Aurangabad Bride Plots Husband’s Murder, inspired by Meghalaya Honeymoon Killing: Police
Aurangabad Bride Kills Husband in Shocking Murder Inspired by Meghalaya Honeymoon Case
Aurangabad, Bihar : In a case echoing the chilling Meghalaya honeymoon murder, a 25-year-old man in Bihar’s Aurangabad district was allegedly murdered by his wife and her maternal uncle just 45 days after their wedding. The police believe the woman, Gunja Singh alias Gunja Devi, conspired with her 55-year-old uncle, Jeevan Singh, to eliminate her husband and continue their illicit relationship.
The victim, Priyanshu Kumar Singh, was ambushed and shot dead on June 24 near Nabinagar railway station as he returned from Varanasi. His wife was the last person he contacted, requesting her to arrange a ride. Minutes later, he was gunned down by two assailants.
Plot Inspired by Recent Meghalaya Murder Case
The Aurangabad police, led by Superintendent of Police Ambarish Rahul, revealed that Gunja was allegedly inspired by the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case involving newlywed Sonam Raghuvanshi, who, along with her lover, killed her husband during a vacation.
Gunja, reportedly under pressure from her family, had married Priyanshu in May despite being in a 15-year-long relationship with her maternal uncle, Jeevan Singh (55 Years). Unwilling to end the affair, she allegedly hatched a murder plot eerily similar to the Meghalaya incident.
“She was in constant touch with her uncle and the shooters. The planning was meticulous, and the motive was to continue the illicit relationship without interference,” said SP Rahul.
Chilling Details of a Contract Killing
According to investigators, Gunja collaborated with two contract killers, Jaishankar Chaubey and Mukesh Sharma, from Garhwa district in Jharkhand. The group procured SIM cards, shared location details, and coordinated logistics over the phone.
On the night of June 24, Gunja allegedly informed the shooters of Priyanshu’s exact location after he spoke to her from the railway station. Minutes later, the killers, already stationed near his route, shot him at close range. His body was discovered shortly after.
Investigation Uncovers Communications Trail
Following the murder, Gunja’s behavior raised suspicion. Her attempt to flee the village post-crime triggered a deeper investigation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was promptly formed.
Key findings from mobile call detail records (CDRs) revealed frequent communication between Gunja and Jeevan Singh, and between Singh and the two shooters. Her mobile phone was seized and analyzed, confirming her central role in the conspiracy.
“Three people, including Gunja Devi, have been arrested. Search is ongoing to apprehend Jeevan Singh,” confirmed SP Rahul, adding that Gunja has confessed during interrogation.
Echoes of Meghalaya Case: A Disturbing Pattern
The similarities between the Aurangabad and Meghalaya cases have shocked the local community. In both, women allegedly conspired with lovers to kill their husbands shortly after marriage, using hired killers and carefully laid plans.
In the Meghalaya case, Sonam Raghuvanshi and her lover Raj Kushawa plotted and executed her husband’s murder during their honeymoon, also employing accomplices. Both cases have sparked widespread public outrage and renewed debate on psychological and societal aspects of post-marriage crimes.
What’s Next: Forensic Evidence & Legal Proceedings
Aurangabad police said forensic evidence and digital trails will be vital in strengthening the case in court. The investigation team is also reviewing bank transactions, call logs, and CCTV footage to trace the killers’ movement before and after the crime.
With Gunja’s confession and circumstantial evidence in hand, charges under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (common intention) are expected to be filed against the accused.
