Senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat have alleged political targeting after party members were detained ahead of the Sardardham inauguration event. The incident involving AAP Gujarat leaders has triggered a fresh political controversy in the state.

Bharuch district president Piyush Patel and party worker Deepak Patel were detained early morning by Bharuch LCB and taken to the C Division Police Station. The action against AAP Gujarat leaders has been strongly criticised by the party, which termed it an attempt to suppress opposition voices.

AAP Gujarat Alleges Suppression of Dissent

Reacting to the incident, Piyush Patel said that the detention of AAP Gujarat leaders reflects a situation where even expressing disagreement on social media is being targeted.

The party also alleged misuse of administrative machinery, stating that police were being used to detain AAP Gujarat leaders instead of focusing on law and order duties.

Piyush Patel said that such actions create fear among political workers and weaken democratic values. He added that AAP Gujarat leaders are being unfairly targeted for raising concerns about public events and government decisions.

AAP leaders further stated that incidents like this are harming democratic expression in the state. According to them, the detention of AAP Gujarat leaders ahead of political and social events is setting a wrong precedent.

They emphasised that police should focus on maintaining law and order rather than acting against opposition voices.

He concluded that suppressing voices will not stop public dissent and demanded fair treatment of all political workers.
