Mental Health Concerns Rising Among Teens
This incident underscores the rising mental health challenges among adolescents in India. With increased access to mobile phones and digital games, many children are facing behavioral changes, addiction issues, and stress. Experts warn that excessive gaming can not only affect academic performance but also lead to emotional disturbances when boundaries are enforced.
Moreover, scolding without supportive communication can increase anxiety or guilt in children, particularly in high-pressure households. While discipline is necessary, mental health professionals recommend that parents communicate calmly and offer emotional support during correction.
What Parents Can Do
To prevent similar tragedies, parents and guardians must:
- Monitor screen time actively, but respectfully.
- Set gaming limits through discussion, not only restrictions.
- Watch for behavioral shifts, especially signs of withdrawal or mood swings.
- Encourage open conversations about school pressure and digital habits.
- Seek professional help when warning signs appear.
