Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains Conducts Surprise Inspection at Mohali School

DPR to Be Submitted Within a Week as Government Plans Smart Classrooms, Infrastructure Revamp and Model School Development

Mohali: Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Bains recently carried out a surprise inspection of Government Senior Secondary School, Hathiyarpur, in SAS Nagar (Mohali), as part of the state government’s initiative to modernize government schools. During the visit, he instructed officials to submit a detailed project report (DPR) within a week to facilitate comprehensive school development.

Harjot Bains expressed concern over the poor condition of classrooms and the need for immediate repainting, despite the school’s proximity to Chandigarh. He spoke to the Director of Secondary Education and directed the formation of an inspection team to conduct a thorough assessment and prepare the DPR within a week. The Minister emphasized that the school would be transformed into a model institution, serving as a benchmark for other government schools.

He outlined plans for repairs and renovations, the creation of ICT-enabled smart classrooms, improvements in basic infrastructure, and provision of new student uniforms. Bains also encouraged the principal to display students’ artwork in corridors to promote creativity and a positive learning environment.

 Harjot Bains Interacts with Students, Seeks Feedback on Facilities

During his visit, the Minister interacted with students, seeking feedback on education quality and facilities, while motivating them to aim high and strive for excellence.

The principal informed him that the playground is being upgraded with a ₹15 lakh grant. Harjot Bains instructed that it should also be accessible to local children in the evenings, ensuring community benefit.

Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Harjot Bains called for accountability and prompt execution in the education sector. He asked teachers to prepare a list of requirements for the inspection team and assured that he would personally oversee the school’s upgradation, aiming to bring government schools on par with leading private institutions.
