“This victory shows the trust of the people of Bangladesh in your leadership,” the Prime Minister wrote.
Following his congratulatory message, Modi also spoke directly with Tarique Rahman, thanking him for the conversation and reaffirming India’s steadfast support for peace in the neighbouring country.

He added that he looks forward to collaborating with Rahman to strengthen bilateral relations and pursue shared development goals.
BNP Welcomes PM Modi’s Message
Nazrul Islam Khan, head of BNP’s election coordination committee, expressed the party’s gratitude for Modi’s congratulatory message. Khan stated that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, ties between India and Bangladesh, as well as the relationship between their people, are expected to grow stronger.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also congratulated Tarique Rahman on behalf of his party. He highlighted the historical, cultural, and linguistic bonds between India and Bangladesh, noting the importance of a democratic and inclusive Bangladesh for regional peace and stability.
