CM Bhagwant Mann Directs Zero Tolerance Against Drugs and Organised Crime in Punjab

Chief Minister Reviews ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ and ‘Gangsteraan Te Vaar’ Campaigns, Orders Strict Accountability and Arms Licence Review

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken a strong stand to reinforce law and order across the state, directing top police officials to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against drugs and organised crime. While chairing a high-level review meeting with Police Commissioners, IGs, DIGs and SSPs on Thursday, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that the ongoing campaigns ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ and ‘Gangsteraan Te Vaar’ remain the government’s foremost priorities and must lead to the complete elimination of these threats.

Stressing the administration’s firm resolve to safeguard citizens, CM Bhagwant Mann instructed officers to ensure tangible results on the ground, improve coordination, and maintain strict accountability. He remarked that Punjab Police carries a proud legacy and must demonstrate strong resolve to effectively confront present challenges.

The Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann observed that both major drives have been progressing steadily with substantial public support and have delivered encouraging outcomes so far. Nevertheless, he emphasized the need for a decisive and conclusive crackdown on these social evils. CM Mann announced that he would personally review the progress of the campaigns daily. He added that officers showing exemplary performance would be recognized and rewarded, whereas any form of negligence would invite strict action.

CM Bhagwant Mann Assures Funds for Police Modernisation and Technology Upgrade

Bhagwant Mann also assured that adequate funds are available to modernize the Punjab Police with advanced technology, sufficient manpower and improved infrastructure. Ordering a statewide review of arms licences, the Chief Minister directed that any licence found to be misused must be cancelled without delay.

Underlining the importance of protecting youth from drugs and crime, CM Bhagwant Mann stressed expanding employment avenues, strengthening the education system and initiating large-scale career counselling programmes, particularly in drug-affected and vulnerable regions. He also called for targeted measures to reduce school dropout rates in such areas.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, DGP Gaurav Yadav and other senior officials.
