Punjab : In a significant development under the Punjab Government’s campaign to eliminate drugs from the state, the Amritsar Police have dismantled an international cross-border drug trafficking network. According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, two individuals have been arrested and 7.6 kilograms of heroin along with ₹21,800 in suspected drug proceeds have been seized from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Sahibpreet Singh alias Sahib (19), originally from Fatehgarh Churian in Batala and currently living in Chheharta, Amritsar, and Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan (26), a resident of Guru Nanakpura in Kot Khalsa, Amritsar. Both have prior criminal backgrounds, including cases under the Arms Act and involvement in snatching incidents.

DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed that initial investigations indicate the accused were in touch with a handler based in Dubai through virtual communication channels. The handler allegedly coordinated cross-border heroin deliveries via drones and instructed the accused about collection points and further distribution within the supply network. He also noted that the Dubai-based operative has links to several narcotics syndicates and had previously surfaced in a major NDPS case involving the seizure of 43 kilograms of heroin.
Swift Action by Amritsar Police Results in Arrests and Seizure
Amritsar Police , Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, stated that the arrests were made following specific and reliable intelligence inputs. Police teams executed a carefully planned operation that led to the seizure of the contraband and drug money. Investigations further revealed that the overseas handler was managing multiple drug trafficking networks.
Authorities are continuing investigations to uncover both the forward and backward connections of the syndicate and to dismantle the broader network.
An FIR (No. 29 dated 11.02.2026) has been registered under Sections 21-C, 25, and 27-A of the NDPS Act at Amritsar Police Station , Chheharta .
