Ranjana, the first wife of renowned singer Udit Narayan, has filed a complaint alleging that her uterus was removed without her consent. She claims that Udit, along with his two brothers and his second wife, Deepa Narayan, was involved in the incident. According to her, she discovered the surgery years later while undergoing medical treatment.
Complaint Againt Udit Narayan Submitted in Supaul
Ranjana lodged a formal complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Supaul, Bihar, with the assistance of her lawyer, Karunakant Jha. She stated that she married Udit Narayan on December 7, 1984, according to Hindu customs. In 1985, Udit moved to Mumbai to pursue his singing career and reportedly married Deepa Narayan without informing Ranjana. She alleged that whenever she questioned him about his second marriage, he misled her and kept her in the dark for years.
It is noted that Udit and Deepa Narayan married in 1985 and have a son, Aditya Narayan, who is also a playback singer.
Alleged Surgery and Harassment
Around 12 years after their marriage, in 1996, Ranjana claims she was taken to a hospital in Delhi where her uterus was removed without her permission. She alleged that Udit Narayan, his brothers Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Narayan Jha, and Deepa Narayan were involved in the procedure.
Ranjana also said she faced verbal harassment when visiting Udit’s home in Mumbai in 2006 and experienced similar treatment at her in-laws’ home in Nepal. Since then, she has been living at her parental home.
Seeking Justice
Ranjana stated that she was compelled to approach the police due to Udit Narayan’s repeated unfulfilled promises. “Udit Narayan ji keeps making promises but never fulfills them. That is why I came to the Women’s Police Station. I deserve justice,” she told . She added that police initially refused to accept her complaint, which was only taken after submitting a written application.
