BJP central leadership finalizes UP state chief, CM Yogi updated; RSS leaders discuss Ayodhya, SIR, and administrative feedback in Lucknow meeting.
During a meeting with senior RSS leaders, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, and other prominent state BJP officials in Lucknow on Monday, the BJP central leadership finalized its choice for the party’s next state unit president and sought consensus on it. This month is probably when the name will be revealed.
According to sources, on Monday afternoon, Sangh leaders in eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Awadh region met for the first time with RSS sah sarkaryawah Arun Kumar and BJP national general secretary (organization) B L Santhosh at a hotel. The leadership’s decision was later communicated to Adityanath, Deputy chairman Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, current state BJP chairman Bhupendra Chaudhary, and state general secretary (organization) Dharampal Singh during a meeting at the chief minister’s home.

According to BJP insiders, the central leadership evaluated nine applicants for the position at a recent meeting in Delhi, three from each of the Brahmin, OBC, and Dalit categories, before selecting one.
The completion of the main temple at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir complex, the Adityanath government’s proposal to establish temporary detention facilities for “infiltrators” and “illegal immigrants” in each district, and the state’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls were among the other topics discussed by the top BJP and Sangh leaders on Monday at the “Vichar Parivar Baithak.”
Top BJP and Sangh leaders reportedly voiced dissatisfaction over a report from the party’s SIR monitoring team that said elected officials, such as ministers, MPs, and other MLAs, were not interested in overseeing the SIR procedure.
According to sources, the leaders decided that in order to show the public that the BJP administration had kept its promise, it was necessary to publicize the completion of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. This is significant given that, five months after the temple’s public opening, the BJP lost the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat, which includes Ayodhya, last year.
According to sources, the RSS officials also gave the BJP leaders their opinions on how the various UP ministries were operating. The Sangh’s and its various branches’ coordination sessions with the ministers last month served as the basis for this feedback.
