CM Yogi Inspects 20 Key Departments’ Budgets, Orders Faster Utilization of Funds

UP CM Yogi Adityanath reviews 2025–26 budget, instructs departments to utilize funds promptly, ensure accountability, and speed up project implementation.

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath examined the Finance Department in relation to the government’s allocation of funds to different departments for the fiscal year 2025–2026. The 20 key departments with greater budget provisions gave presentations during the conference, including the current state of government approvals, department heads’ allocations, and actual spending in comparison to the budget provisions for the current fiscal year.

The presentations from the 20 main departments were examined by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In order to ensure that projects and initiatives are finished on time and that the state’s citizens can profit from them, he instructed senior officials in all important departments to make timely use of the funding allotted. He stated that in order to guarantee budget expenditure within predetermined timeframes, officers must acquire the ability to make prompt choices. The procedure needs to be accelerated in departments where budget utilization is slow. He also ordered that accountability and responsibility be established at all levels and that no carelessness would be accepted in order to ensure timely budget expenditure. He emphasized implementation on the ground, saying that officers must act quickly because delays in decision-making impede timely expenditure.

In order to speed up progress, the Chief Minister instructed departmental ministers and personnel to hold monthly coordination meetings after observing that some departments are using their budgets slowly. He gave the Finance Department immediate instructions to release all outstanding budgetary sections that have not yet been provided for any reason. Additionally, he instructed officials from the 20 main departments that get funding from the Central Government through a variety of programs to actively demand the delivery of the budget. Departmental ministers, Principal Secretaries, and Additional Chief Secretaries should travel to Delhi, write letters, and follow up with the Central Government over the phone. Additionally, the Chief Secretary was urged to take the initiative in this area. The Chief Minister gave his office instructions to find departments that were using their budgets slowly and to send letters from the Chief Minister’s Office to the relevant ministers.

The Chief Minister instructed the Finance Department to start discussing budget requests with all departments ahead of the next fiscal year 2026–2027 during the meeting. He stated that an evaluation of spending over the previous five years should be conducted prior to allocating the upcoming budget. In order to guarantee the timely distribution of central budget allocations, he directed the Finance Department to begin working on a new action plan right away and to improve collaboration with the Central Government.
