The occasion marked the promotion of 18 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to the rank of Superintendents of Police (SPs), and it was more than just a ceremonial moment. For Chief Minister Mann, it was a call to action.
“You’re not just stepping into a higher role — you’re stepping into a greater responsibility,” he told the police officers. “Punjab looks to you with hope, especially in our fight against the drug menace that is threatening the future of our youth.”
Reflecting on the Punjab Police’s rich legacy, Mann reminded the officers of the force’s historical role not just in maintaining law and order but in defending the very unity and integrity of the nation. “From battling terrorism to standing as a second line of defence in a border state, the Punjab Police has always risen to the occasion with courage and sacrifice,” he said.
With the promotion comes the expectation that these police officers will not just continue, but amplify the commitment shown by generations before them. “The legacy of gallantry, discipline, and public service must live on through you,” Mann added.
The Chief Minister placed a special emphasis on the ongoing “Yudh Nasheyan De Virudh” campaign — a state-wide battle against drug abuse. He stressed that this is not just a law enforcement issue, but a social responsibility and a generational mission.
“You have a powerful role to play in this movement. If we want to secure the future of Punjab, we must win this war against drugs,” he stated.
Expressing his full faith in the abilities and dedication of the newly promoted officers, Mann encouraged them to serve with professionalism, compassion, and integrity. “The people of Punjab trust you. Let your actions honor that trust.”
As the officers stepped into their new roles, the message was clear: this isn’t just a promotion—it’s a pledge. A pledge to serve, to protect, and to make Punjab a safer, stronger, and drug-free state.
