HP has officially stepped into India’s growing tablet segment with the launch of the HP OmniPad 12, a device designed to bridge the gap between a traditional tablet and a lightweight laptop. The new launch targets students, professionals, and first-time buyers who want a single versatile device for work, study, and entertainment.

The introduction of the HP OmniPad 12 marks HP’s push into the hybrid device category, where flexibility and portability are becoming key buying factors. With its detachable keyboard and Android-based ecosystem, the device aims to offer a balanced experience between productivity and casual usage.

HP OmniPad 12 focuses on hybrid productivity

At the core of the HP OmniPad 12 is its detachable keyboard, which allows users to seamlessly switch between tablet mode and laptop-style usage. This makes it suitable for watching content, attending online classes, or typing documents and emails without needing a separate laptop.

The  OmniPad 12 also features a 12-inch 2K display with a 90Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling and better visual fluidity. The 16:10 aspect ratio provides extra vertical space, which is especially useful for reading, browsing, and multitasking.

Performance and hardware

Under the hood, the HP OmniPad 12 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SM6475Q processor, paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB internal storage. Users can also expand storage via microSD card support, adding flexibility for media-heavy users.

Running on Android (version not yet confirmed), the HP OmniPad 12 aims to deliver a familiar and accessible software experience for a wide audience.

Multimedia and battery experience

For entertainment and communication, the OmniPad 12 includes quad speakers with DTS:X Ultra support, an 8MP front camera, and a 13MP rear camera. It also comes with dual microphones, making it suitable for video calls and online meetings.

HP claims that the OmniPad 12 can deliver up to 18 hours of battery life, positioning it as a strong all-day device for students, professionals, and travelers.

Pricing and availability in India

The HP OmniPad 12 has been priced at Rs. 48,999 in India and will be available starting June. It will be sold through HP’s official online store, Amazon, Reliance outlets, and HP World retail stores. The device will launch in a single Denim Blue colour variant.

With its hybrid design and competitive specifications, the HP OmniPad 12 is positioned as a strong contender in the mid-range tablet segment. By combining portability, productivity, and multimedia capabilities, the HP OmniPad 12 aims to attract users looking for a single device that can handle both work and entertainment without compromise.
