The Mann canal water initiative has been highlighted by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab as a major administrative step aimed at resolving a long-standing dispute over canal water distribution among farmers in the state. The government claims that the initiative addresses grievances that had remained unresolved for nearly five decades.

The Mann canal water initiative focuses on correcting what the party describes as historical imbalances in water allocation, which allegedly affected several farming communities. According to AAP Punjab, previous governments led by the Akali Dal and Congress were accused of showing bias in distributing canal water, leaving many farmers struggling with irrigation shortages.

In its statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the party said the Mann canal water initiative reflects the government’s commitment to fairness and equitable access to irrigation resources. It added that the Bhagwant Mann-led administration has worked to ensure that affected farmer groups receive their due share of canal water.

The Mann canal water initiative was also described as a long-awaited corrective measure for what AAP called decades of neglect in Punjab’s agricultural water management system. The government claimed that the reform has brought relief to farmers who had been waiting for resolution for many years.

AAP Punjab further stated that the initiative was implemented within just four years of governance, contrasting it with what it described as 50 years of political inaction. The Mann canal water initiative was presented as an example of policy-driven governance focused on rural and agricultural welfare.

The party has also encouraged farmers to share their experiences, stating that their feedback reflects the impact of the Mann canal water initiative on ground-level agricultural conditions and irrigation access across Punjab.
