Patna, August 4, 2025:
Patna’s iconic double-deck flyover, designed to ease congestion along Ashok Rajpath and inaugurated in June this year, has suffered alarming damage and amid monsoon rains. A viral video clips show a sharp dip and visible cracks in a section of the corridor, prompting questions over the project’s quality and durability.
Build at a cost of ₹422 crore, the 2.2km flyover connects Gandhi Maidan’s kargil chowk to science college. Barely 2 months after inauguration , prolonged heavy rainfall appears to have compromised parts of its structure, sparking public outrage.
City grapples with Flooding and infrastructure failure:
Patna has battered by continues rains, leading to severe waterlogging in many areas. Many residents complained drain flow in their homes.
Local officials, including road construction minister- Minister Nitin Nabin, visited affected zones, directed rapid action to cope up with drainage and restore electricity and ensure public safety measures.
Safety and accountability under scrutiny:
- Officials have begun a damage assessment and investigations into potential construction flaws or design oversight
- Critics and residents cried foul over less of quality checks, demanding and independent Audit
- The incident has reignited debate over Bihar Infrastructure management as past political promises of transforming Patna into a global class city remain unfulfilled
