AAP MLAs condemn BJP’s Kapil Mishra for allegedly manipulating Atishi video, calling it an insult to Sikh Gurus. Delhi Assembly row escalates.

New Delhi : The Delhi Assembly witnessed a heated debate on Thursday as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs accused the BJP of indulging in petty politics and defaming party leader Atishi. The controversy stems from a viral video in which BJP leader Kapil Mishra allegedly added a misleading “transcript,” suggesting that Atishi made disparaging remarks against Guru Teg Bahadur.

Speaking in the House, AAP members said such acts are a deliberate insult to Sikh Gurus, and India would not tolerate attempts to hurt religious sentiments for political gain. The MLAs demanded strict action against Mishra, calling the doctored video a calculated effort to distract public attention from pressing issues like Delhi’s air pollution and governance.

An AAP spokesperson stated, “Atishi has never disrespected any Sikh Guru. The BJP’s manipulation of the video is meant to mislead the public and create communal tensions. This is unacceptable in a democratic system.”

The incident has further escalated tensions between the two parties, with the Assembly witnessing strong arguments and emotional appeals. AAP members highlighted that such tactics undermine public faith in politics and harm the social harmony of the capital.

The opposition party’s demand includes a formal inquiry into Kapil Mishra’s actions and an assurance from the Assembly Speaker that no political leader can distort facts to malign a colleague or hurt religious sentiments.

This controversy follows BJP’s previous allegations against Atishi, which she and AAP leaders have consistently denied, calling them politically motivated attempts to derail discussions on governance and civic issues in Delhi.

As the debate unfolded, the Assembly saw AAP MLAs emphasizing respect for religion, responsible political conduct, and the need for accountability in public discourse.
