NEW DELHI — In a chilling reminder of public transport vulnerabilities, Delhi Police arrested two men on Monday following an investigation into a moving bus gang rape Kashmere Gate case. The incident involved a 16-year-old Class 11 student from Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh.
Law enforcement officers tracked down and apprehended the bus driver, Kuldeep, alongside the conductor, Sandeep, at a parking yard in Timarpur. Meanwhile, forensic experts seized the private sleeper coach after the victim approached officers at the Kashmere Gate police station.
Heavy Rain and Stranded Transit Lead to Exploitative Trap
The victim originally left her family home following a domestic argument and intended to meet her cousin in Noida Sector 63. However, heavy downpours and low visibility caused her to disembark by mistake at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
Stranded late at night, the teenager signaled to an empty sleeper coach passing through the area. The crew lied to the stranded girl, claiming the vehicle was heading toward Noida Sector 63, and offered her passage.

Curtains and Empty Cabin Concealed the Onboard Assault
According to police reports, the bus had just undergone repairs at a garage in Surajpur. The crew was driving the empty vehicle back to a parking facility in North Delhi when they encountered the girl.
Shortly after taking off, the conductor made inappropriate advances before both men assaulted her. Investigators noted that individual curtains around the berths helped the suspects conceal their actions during the 47-kilometer journey.
Police Action, Suspect Arrest, and Legal Proceedings Under POCSO
After dumping the student near the Kashmere Gate bus terminal, the assailants fled toward North Delhi. The victim approached duty officers at Kashmere Gate, prompting immediate medical care and police coordination.
Police teams analyzed CCTV feeds along the highway to locate the bus in Timarpur. Authorities booked both suspects under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant BNS provisions, ensuring severe legal scrutiny.
