Global Art and Heritage Come Alive in Patna

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the logo of the Bihar Museum Biennale 2025 in Patna today, marking the beginning of a significant cultural event. The international exhibition showcases artifacts and artworks from over ten countries, turning the Bihar Museum into a melting pot of traditions, celebrations, and creativity.

Participating nations include Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Korea, Zambia, Mexico, and Ethiopia. The displays cover a wide range of themes, from rituals, festivals, and performances to health, wellness, and archaeology, including unique finds from Chirand, Bihar’s ancient excavation site.

International Exhibitions Highlight Shared Human Stories

Temporary exhibitions curated by global artists focus on topics such as:

  • Symbolism and Celebrations
  • Initiation Ceremonies
  • Beauty and Aesthetics
  • Natural and Cultural Heritage

Notably, the Indonesian and Ethiopian displays stood out, offering insights into their rich cultural and natural heritage. Korean exhibits blended tradition with technology, while Sri Lanka and Mexico showcased ceremonial customs.

These exhibitions emphasize the interconnectedness of human experiences across borders. Visitors witnessed how different societies approach common milestones through varied yet resonant expressions.

Nitish Kumar Meets Global Artists

Chief Minister Kumar toured the exhibits and interacted with artists representing their countries. He encouraged them to continue fostering cultural ties through art. The CM’s personal involvement underlined the Bihar government’s dedication to making the Biennale a global cultural brand.

The event also celebrates Bihar’s own heritage, including an archaeological highlight — a dedicated space on Chirand excavations, reflecting the region’s ancient civilizational significance.

Promoting Bihar as a Global Cultural Hub

The Biennale is part of Bihar’s larger vision to position itself as a center of global cultural dialogue. With active participation from international embassies and cultural ministries, the event is expected to attract scholars, artists, and tourists from around the world.

This initiative aligns with the state’s effort to promote cultural tourism, using its museums as platforms for global exchange. The Bihar Museum Biennale began as a national initiative in 2021 and has since grown into a globally recognized event.
