It is considered an especially auspicious day for students, scholars, artists, and anyone involved in intellectual or creative pursuits

Panchami Tithi and Udaya Tithi

According to the Hindu Panchang, the Panchami Tithi begins at 2:28 AM on January 23, 2026, and ends at 1:46 AM on January 24, 2026. Using the Udaya Tithi (sunrise-based calculation), the festival is celebrated on January 23, 2026.

Religious Significance of Basant Panchami

Legend has it that in the early stages of creation, the world was silent and lifeless. Dissatisfied, Lord Brahma sprinkled water from his Kamandal, giving rise to Goddess Saraswati. When she played her Veena, sound, speech, and consciousness came into existence. Since then, worshipping Goddess Saraswati on Basant Panchami has been a sacred tradition.
