Registration for the sacred Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration officially began on April 15, marking the start of preparations for one of India’s most significant annual religious pilgrimages dedicated to Lord Shiva. The yatra will continue for 57 days, from July 3 to August 28, with authorities expecting a large influx of devotees this year.

Massive Response on First Day of Registration

On the first day of registration, long queues were reported outside several bank branches across the country, reflecting the strong devotion of pilgrims. The Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration process has been made mandatory for all devotees, with both online and offline options available to ensure wider accessibility.

Authorities have also strengthened safety and medical protocols due to the challenging high-altitude terrain of the pilgrimage route.

Two Routes for Pilgrims

The pilgrimage offers two traditional routes. The first is the 48-km Nunwan–Pahalgam route, which is longer but considered safer due to its gradual ascent. The second is the shorter 14-km Baltal route, which is steeper and more physically demanding.

The Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration guidelines clearly inform pilgrims about route options so they can choose based on their physical fitness and preference.

Mandatory Health and Safety Requirements

Officials have made a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) mandatory for participation. The certificate must be issued by an authorised doctor after April 8, 2026. In addition, RFID cards have been introduced to ensure real-time tracking and enhanced security for pilgrims.

The Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration process also includes strict eligibility criteria such as an age limit of 13 to 70 years, and restrictions for pregnant women beyond six weeks.

Online and Offline Registration Facilities

Pilgrims can register through the official website and mobile application of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. Offline registration is available at over 550 designated bank branches, including SBI, PNB, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, and J&K Bank.

Authorities have confirmed that the Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration will be closed seven days before the intended travel date for each pilgrim.

Security and Medical Arrangements Strengthened

To ensure a safe pilgrimage, security forces including Jammu & Kashmir Police will be deployed along the entire route. Medical camps, emergency rescue teams, and help centres will also be set up at key locations.

The Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration initiative is being supported with enhanced coordination between administrative and security agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the yatra.

With strict safety protocols and improved facilities, the Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration process aims to provide a secure and well-organized pilgrimage experience. Authorities have urged devotees to complete their registration on time and strictly follow all guidelines for a safe journey to the holy cave shrine.
