New Delhi : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially removed Raghav Chadha as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha. In a formal communication to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, the party requested that Chadha should not be allotted time to speak in Parliament. The party also submitted a letter proposing MP Ashok Mittal as the new Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha.

The development triggered speculation about Chadha’s political future, with some reports suggesting a possible switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh dismissed such claims, saying they are “entirely unfounded and without merit.” Singh emphasized that Chadha continues to remain an integral part of the party and maintains strong ties with its leadership.

Singh highlighted that Raghav Chadha removed as Deputy Leader should not be interpreted as a signal of defection. He pointed out that Chadha’s responsibilities, including his role in Punjab and his nomination to the Rajya Sabha, reaffirm his continued association with AAP. “Variations in a leader’s public activity are common in politics and should not be misconstrued as signs of a party switch,” Singh added.

The party’s decision comes amid Chadha’s reduced visibility in recent weeks, as he stayed away from media briefings, party offices, and public appearances. Despite this, AAP clarified that there is no indication of Chadha joining any other political party.

With Ashok Mittal now appointed as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, the party aims to maintain organizational stability while continuing to assert its position in Parliament.
