Notorious ‘Looter Bride’ of Nagpur Finally Nabbed
Nagpur, August 2: In a sensational breakthrough, the Gittikhadan Police have arrested Samira Fatima, dubbed Nagpur’s “looter Bride,” or commonly know as “looteri Dhulan” for allegedly marrying eight men over the years and extorting lakhs of rupees through false legal threats. After being on the run for more than a year, Fatima was finally traced to a tea stall in the Civil Lines area of Nagpur.
Police sources confirmed that Samira had used social media platforms to reach out to married men. She presented herself as a divorcee and expressed willingness to live as a second wife. Once married, she allegedly threatened her new husbands with false legal complaints and extorted large sums of money from them in exchange for not filing police cases or settling matters privately.
Years of Deceit Unfold
According to the primary complaint filed by Ghulam Pathan in March 2023 at the Gittikhadan Police Station, Samira began her spree of deception around 2010. Pathan claims he was cheated out of ₹10 lakh and presented proof of the same. Collectively, the accused is believed to have extracted nearly ₹50 lakh from her victims through deceit.
Pathan’s complaint stated that Samira would emotionally manipulate men online, quickly enter into marriage, and then begin her cycle of intimidation and extortion. Most victims hesitated to come forward, fearing social embarrassment and family repercussions, which allowed her to continue her operations for over a decade.
Police officials confirmed that she had previously worked as a school teacher and used her background to gain credibility among her targets.
Consistent Modus Operandi Raises Alarm
Investigators revealed that Samira followed a consistent method in each case. After meeting men online, she would rush into marriage—often without legal paperwork—and then accuse them of harassment or mistreatment. Under pressure, her victims would agree to financial settlements, fearing criminal or social consequences.
“She used legal threats as a weapon,” said a senior police officer involved in the investigation. “Each of her victims reported a similar pattern—online interaction, emotional bonding, marriage, followed by threats of court cases and eventual blackmail.”
After several such complaints and with mounting pressure, police launched a focused manhunt. The breakthrough came when locals spotted Samira in Civil Lines, where she was frequently seen near a tea stall. She was immediately apprehended and brought in for questioning.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Action
A formal case has been registered against Samira Fatima under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating and extortion. Legal proceedings are currently underway, and more victims are now reportedly stepping forward to share their experiences.
The police believe there may be additional unknown cases and are urging anyone who was similarly deceived to come forward. “This case is a reminder of the evolving methods of cyber-enabled fraud and emotional exploitation,” added the police spokesperson.
The arrest has stirred public interest across Maharashtra, and the case is being closely followed by both local media and online platforms.
