Canada: A deadly shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School on Wednesday afternoon has left several people dead and dozens injured, according to local reports and law enforcement officials. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that officers responded to an active shooter situation shortly after 1:20 p.m. Pacific Time, with emergency personnel rushing to the school following reports of multiple victims.

Authorities reported that six individuals were injured inside the school, while two additional victims were found at a nearby residence linked to the incident. Another person died while being transported to the hospital. The suspected gunman was also found dead, apparently from a self-inflicted wound. Several other individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated locally.

Witnesses initially described the suspect as a woman with brown hair wearing a dress, though authorities have confirmed her death. By 5:46 p.m. PT, the RCMP lifted the active shooter alert, confirming there was no ongoing threat.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and officials have not indicated whether the suspect had any connection to the school or its students. Investigators continue to secure the area and collect evidence as part of a detailed and ongoing inquiry.
