Haldwani Hosts Journalist Health Camp Under CM Dhami’s Initiative

Over 100 Journalists and Their Families Benefit from Free Tests, Specialist Consultations, and Medicines

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has directed the organisation of dedicated medical and health camp for journalists, acknowledging their demanding lifestyle, heavy workload, and irregular schedules. In line with his instructions, a one-day medical camp was held on Thursday at the Haldwani Media Centre, organised jointly by the Information and Public Relations Department and the Health and Medical Department.

The health camp was attended by District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Rayal, Chief Medical Officer of Nainital, and Joint Director Information Nitin Upadhyay, who monitored the health services provided to participants.

Highlighting the importance of journalists, the District Magistrate remarked, “Healthy journalism forms the backbone of a strong democracy. Free, fair, and fearless media ensures administrative accountability and helps spread awareness in society.” He added that the state government prioritises the health and welfare of media professionals and is committed to safeguarding their well-being.

CM Dhami’s Health Camp Provides Free Medical Tests and Specialist Check-Ups for Journalists

In accordance with CM Dhami’s vision for public welfare, the health camp offered modern health facilities, including X-ray, ECG, blood pressure, sugar, thyroid, and various blood tests. Specialists such as cardiologists, orthopaedic experts, gynaecologists, ophthalmologists, dentists, and general physicians conducted comprehensive check-ups. Following the assessments, necessary medicines were distributed free of cost.

Over 100 journalists and their family members from Haldwani, Ramnagar, Lalkuan, and Kaladhungi participated in the health camp , benefiting from these services.

Joint Director Information Nitin Upadhyay stated that, as per government directions, such health camps will be organised periodically across the state to ensure maximum media personnel and citizens can access quality healthcare. He described the initiative as “an excellent example of the state government’s progressive approach, extending health services to all sections of society under the spirit of ‘Health for All, Development for All’.”

The health camp was jointly inaugurated by Dr Harish Chandra Pant, District Chief Medical Officer, and Nitin Upadhyay, Joint Director Information.
