Uttar Pradesh voter list updated under SIR; political parties to verify deletions. 2.91 crore names likely to be removed.

UP SIR: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttar Pradesh is currently in its concluding phase. Based on the revised data, the average number of deletions per polling station within the state is 179. As the draft records are prepared, the Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission is now in the process of submitting the finalized voter lists to political parties.

Under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in the state, it is anticipated that 2.91 crore names will be removed from the total of 15.44 crore registered voters. These encompass absentee, deceased, transferred, and duplicate registered electors. The Election Commission shall deliver this list to the booth-level agents (BLAs) of political parties on Friday, December 12.

4,42,000 BLAs for verifying deleted identities

There are a total of 162,486 polling booths in the state, with 442,000 BLAs representing prominent political parties. These BLAs will compile a roster of voters whose names are likely to be removed. The BLOs and BLAs will collaboratively verify these electors.

To date, 76 percent of voters have been registered in the 2003 voter list, and efforts are ongoing to register the remaining electors.

List to be displayed on the DEO website

These lists will also be published on the websites of all District Election Officers to promote transparency and facilitate a swift verification process, thereby preventing any confusion among political parties.
