Chandigarh, Punjab: Cabinet Minister Harpal Cheema recently discussed the state government’s efforts to strengthen Punjab’s finances. In a TV interview, he stated, “During previous governments, the treasury was always empty. Whenever I raised questions as an opposition leader, the answer was always that the state had no funds. After coming to power, we have worked day and night to double tax collections and implement comprehensive Punjab financial reforms.”
Minister Cheema emphasized that the current administration has made Punjab financial reforms a top priority to ensure better revenue management and fund allocation. By modernizing tax systems, improving compliance, and promoting transparency, the government has achieved measurable improvements in the state’s finances.
