Punjab: In a major boost for farmers, the Mann government has taken historic steps in Punjab agriculture to maximize the use of canal water for farming. Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal addressed a massive rally highlighting the government’s achievements in improving irrigation and boosting productivity.
Before 2022, canal water was used for farming on just 5,700 acres. Under the Mann government’s initiatives, this has increased to 22,000 acres, significantly enhancing productivity in Punjab agriculture. By increasing the capacity of the Firozpur Feeder and Sirhind Canal, water levels have been raised to match the Bhakhra Canal, without any additional expenditure.
