Sangrur, Punjab: In a landmark move to strengthen public safety and law enforcement, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today inaugurated 508 advanced Bolero Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) at Ladda Kothi, Sangrur, under the ‘Dial-112’ initiative. These state-of-the-art vehicles are expected to reduce police response times in emergency situations from 30–45 minutes to just 13–14 minutes, ensuring rapid assistance for citizens across Punjab.

Speaking at the event, CM Mann said, “The security of Punjab is our topmost priority. Through sustained investments and technology upgrades, we are leaving no stone unturned to modernize the police force and make Punjab a safe and secure state for all.”

Punjab Police Modernization: A Four-Year Journey

Over the past four years, the Punjab government has invested ₹327.69 crore to strengthen police infrastructure, with a special focus on Punjab Police modernization. The newly flagged-off ERVs are part of a broader initiative to modernize the fleet of police vehicles, equip officers with advanced tools, and enhance the efficiency of emergency response teams.

The Punjab Police modernization drive has also prioritized public safety through the Special Security Force (SSF) and Road Safety Force, which have together contributed to a 48% reduction in road accident fatalities across the state. In addition, over 12,000 young men and women have been recruited into the police department, creating opportunities for youth while reinforcing the state’s law enforcement capabilities.

With the deployment of these high-tech ERVs, police response times have drastically reduced, demonstrating the effectiveness of Punjab Police modernization strategies.
