CM Bhagwant Mann Pushes Tough Beadbi Law Punjab with Zero Tolerance Policy

Punjab government to amend Beadbi Law with strict punishments, digital offence coverage and property seizure in special session on April 13.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday announced that the state government will introduce a stricter Beadbi Law Punjab by amending the existing legislation during a special Vidhan Sabha session on April 13.

The move aims to strengthen legal provisions against sacrilege (‘beadbi’) and ensure strict punishment for offenders.

Special Vidhan Sabha Session on Baisakhi

The special session will be held on the occasion of Baisakhi, where amendments will be made to the Jagt Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act 2008.

Addressing religious leaders in Amritsar, Bhagwant Singh Mann said the new Beadbi Law Punjab will be drafted in consultation with Sant Samaj and legal experts to ensure it is both strong and effective.

Beadbi Law Punjab to Include Strict Punishment, Property Seizure and Digital Offence Coverage

The proposed Beadbi Law Punjab will include stringent punishment, heavy fines, and confiscation of property of those found guilty.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that the law will cover sacrilege offences committed through digital platforms, making it more comprehensive in tackling modern challenges.

Sant Samaj Consultation for Historic Law

The government is engaging with Sant Samaj, including various religious groups and sects, to finalize the draft of the Beadbi Law Punjab.

Bhagwant Singh Mann assured that the sentiments of devotees will be respected and reflected in the final legislation.

Zero Tolerance Policy on Sacrilege

Reiterating the government’s firm stance, the Chief Minister said that no individual involved in sacrilege will be spared under the Beadbi Law Punjab.

He added that the law will act as a strong deterrent and help maintain communal harmony and respect for religious texts.

Call for Participation in Assembly Session

Bhagwant Singh Mann invited religious leaders and members of the Sant Samaj to attend the special session and witness the passage of the Beadbi Law Punjab, which he described as a historic step.

The introduction of the Beadbi Law Punjab marks a significant move by the state government to strengthen legal action against sacrilege. The upcoming session is expected to play a crucial role in shaping a stricter and more comprehensive law.
