Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday rolled out a major infrastructure push under the Punjab Road Development Project, laying the foundation stone for 300 km of new roads and initiating repair work on 350 km in Jalalabad, Fazilka district.
The large-scale initiative aims to strengthen connectivity and improve transportation across the state.
43,000 Km Network Under Punjab Road Development Project
Highlighting the масштаб of the initiative, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Punjab Road Development Project includes the construction and upgradation of 43,000 km of roads across Punjab.
He assured that strict quality standards will be maintained and contractors will be held accountable if roads deteriorate prematurely.
End to Corruption in Road Construction
The Chief Minister stated that earlier regimes were plagued by corruption, leading to poor-quality roads that deteriorated quickly.
However, under the Punjab Road Development Project, the government is ensuring transparency, durability, and long-term performance of infrastructure.

350 Km Road Repairs to Boost Border Connectivity
As part of the Punjab Road Development Project, repair work on 350 km of roads in Fazilka district has also been initiated.
This move is expected to significantly improve connectivity in border areas and facilitate smoother transportation for residents and businesses.
Underground Wiring Plan to Modernise Infrastructure
Bhagwant Singh Mann also announced a plan to eliminate electricity poles and shift wires underground across Punjab, starting with a pilot project.
This reform will enhance safety, reduce accidents, and align with the modern vision of the Punjab Road Development Project.
Focus on Development and Public Welfare
The Chief Minister highlighted that the government has made significant progress in infrastructure, employment, and welfare over the past four years.
He said that initiatives like free electricity, job creation, and improved roads reflect the government’s commitment to development under the Punjab Road Development Project.
CM Expresses Confidence Ahead of 2027 Polls
Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed confidence that the people of Punjab will support the AAP government again in the 2027 elections, citing satisfaction with its performance.
