Haryana CM Saini targets 2036 Olympics, highlights 37,225 athletes in 1,472 sports nurseries, cash awards, and scholarships at MP Sports Mahotsav 2025.
MP Sports Mahotsav 2025 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a goal to make India a sports superpower by the 2036 Olympics, according to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. He was confident that Haryana athletes would compete in the 2036 Olympics with the aim of taking home as many gold as possible, further solidifying the state’s reputation as a home to courageous farmers and elite wrestlers.
Speaking Tuesday at the MP Sports Mahotsav 2025 closing ceremony, which took place at the Dronacharya Stadium in the holy region of Dharmakshetra–Kurukshetra, was the Chief Minister.
The MP Sports Mahotsav 2025 winners were earlier congratulated with cash awards and prizes by Chief Minister MP Naveen Jindal and former State Minister Subhash Sudha. This time, special prizes were given to para-athlete Dilbag Singh Hisar and shooter Gurjot Singh. Nearly 1.10 lakh athletes displayed their skills in a variety of sports during the Mahotsav, the Chief Minister said, congratulating MP Naveen Jindal and his entire team on the successful organizing.
Saini added that a thorough sports calendar has been created to host sporting events all year long in the state. Khel Mahakumbh, the state-level Akhara Dangal, boxing, volleyball, badminton, swimming, basketball, handball, and other competitions are also regularly held under this calendar. He continued by saying that 11 years ago, a detailed plan for the development of sports in Haryana was developed, with the goals of introducing every kid to sports, building playgrounds in every hamlet, and giving every young person who has a love for sports opportunity. This vision’s ultimate objective is to establish Haryana as the global center of sports, not just in India.

According to the Chief Minister, Haryana is now referred to as the “nursery of sports,” with its sportsmen representing the country with great pride on a global scale. Players from Haryana have continuously raised the Tricolour high on all platforms, whether it is the Olympic, Asian, or Commonwealth Games. According to him, the Sansad Sports Festival is a crucial venue for developing and showcasing athletic potential, and the state government has launched a number of programs to do just that.
According to the Chief Minister, sports nurseries have been set up all around the state to develop athletes from a young age. These facilities offer both professional training and financial support. Currently, 37,225 players are being trained at 1,472 sports nurseries in Haryana. Players between the ages of 8 and 14 earn a monthly payment of Rs 1,500 under this plan, while those between the ages of 15 and 19 receive Rs 2,000.
Saini added that the Haryana Excellent Players Service Rules, 2021 were put into effect in order to guarantee stable work prospects for exceptional sportsmen. These regulations resulted in the creation of 550 new positions in the Sports Department and the employment of 231 players by the government. Additionally, reservations have been made for athletes in direct hiring for Class I to Class IV positions. Athletes who win medals receive cash awards of up to Rs 6 crore, he continued. 16,418 players have received cash awards totaling Rs 683.15 crore thus far. Additionally, 298 exceptional players are receiving honoraria. Students who compete in state, national, and international sporting events and take home medals are also eligible for scholarships. Over 24,000 students have received scholarships totaling Rs 70 crore since 2014.
He added that the Haryana Sports Equipment Provision Scheme is another way the state government gives athletes access to sporting goods. Sports equipment has been given to 15,634 athletes around the state as part of this program.

Haryana’s girls, Unnati Hooda, Anmol Kharb, Devika Sihag, and Ridhikaur Thur, have given honor to the state by taking home the gold medal from the 78th Inter-State Inter-Zonal Badminton Championship 2025, which was held in Vijayawada, according to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The athletes and their coaches received congratulations from the Chief Minister for this remarkable accomplishment. According to him, Haryana’s badminton teams, both men’s and women’s, advanced to the 78th Inter-State Inter-Zonal Badminton Championship 2025 finals. The Haryana women’s badminton team defeated the Andhra Pradesh team in the championship game to win the gold medal. In the meantime, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh will square off in the men’s badminton tournament final.
MP Sports Festival Kurukshetra ushers in a new era of sports: Naveen Jindal
In an expression of thanks to Chief Minister Naveen Jindal, he stated that the MP Sports Mahotsav 2025 signifies the start of a new era in Kurukshetra sports and is not only a farewell event. He explained his plan to guarantee that every Kurukshetra hamlet has access to sporting goods and qualified instructors. In order to do this, gym equipment will be supplied in every hamlet over the course of the next two years, and sports stadiums will be built within the next year.
