Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini flags off a public service run as the state prepares to induct a record 5,061 police recruits. Women form 20.75% of the batch.

Today, the trainees of Batch No. 93 of the Haryana Police, from Yavanika Park in Sector 5, Panchkula, arranged a public service run, which was initiated by Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini.

Speaking at the event, the chief minister said that the run, which was planned to honor the birth anniversary of former prime minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Bharat Ratna, represents discipline, solidarity, and the spirit of national service. The greatest police passing-out batch in Indian Police history would be sworn in later this evening by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah, he was informed.

Of the 5,061 employees in the record batch, 4,191 are men and 870 are women. Given that women made up 20.75 percent of the class, he said, this accomplishment represents a major advancement for women’s empowerment.

The goal is for women to make up 25% of the Haryana Police.

According to him, women’s involvement in the Haryana Police has grown from 3% in 2014 to over 10% since then. Raising this percentage to 25% in the upcoming years is an ambitious goal set by the state administration.

Saini went on to say that the Haryana Police has contributed admirably to the statewide effort to combat drug usage. The recently trained staff will act as brand ambassadors for this effort, raising awareness and bolstering public opposition to drugs.

According to him, the run represents the staff’s successful completion of 39 weeks of intense training as well as the shift from instruction to the actual implementation of policing principles and the “Karma Yogi” ideology. 4,252 recruits from rural and 809 from urban backgrounds are marching together in this run, giving a powerful message of harmony and social cohesion throughout Haryana.

With about 85% of the staff being graduates and postgraduates, the Chief Minister further emphasized that this batch’s strong educational background is another noteworthy characteristic. These will provide the Haryana Police new vitality, a contemporary perspective, and increased efficiency. Of these, 2,390 recruits, or more than half, are under the age of 26.

The run, he claimed, was more than just a physical exercise; it was a manifestation of the tenacity, self-control, and discipline that training regimens like yoga, physical fitness, and self-defense had fostered. He added that the recruits’ voluntary donation of 1,356 units of blood on April 9, 2025, was an outstanding demonstration of social responsibility.

BJP State Vice President Smt. Banto Kataria, Om Prakash Devinagar, Deepak Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Sh Satpal Sharma, Inspector General of Police Pankaj Nain, District President Ajay Mittal, Haryana Police Academy Director Dr. AS Chawla, former Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, and Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma were among the dignitaries in attendance.
