Ahmedabad/Surat: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat unit has expressed concern over rising drug-related incidents and road accidents in the state following a recent hit-and-run case in Surat’s Sarathana area. The party has linked the situation to growing safety and law enforcement challenges.
Rising Concerns Over Gujarat Drug Crime Issue
AAP spokesperson Yogesh Jadvani claimed that drug consumption and illegal substance trade have increased in several major cities including Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Rajkot. He said this trend is contributing to accidents and rising crime cases in urban areas.
The party stated that the recent Surat incident, in which several people were injured in a hit-and-run case allegedly involving an intoxicated driver, highlights a worrying pattern.
Road Safety and Enforcement Questions
According to AAP, intoxicated driving and drug influence are becoming serious road safety concerns. The party has demanded stricter action against illegal alcohol and narcotics networks operating in the state.

It also urged authorities to improve monitoring and strengthen enforcement mechanisms to prevent such incidents.
Calls for Stronger Action
AAP alleged that enforcement efforts are not fully addressing the issue and called for tighter control over drug trafficking and bootlegging activities. The party said stronger surveillance and coordinated action are needed to curb the problem.
