n Sanand, Gopal Italia joins Arvind Kejriwal at AAP meeting, asserting democratic rights and rallying public support in Gujarat.
Ahmedabad / Gujarat : In a press conference, Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) revealed that a booth worker meeting was scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area under the inspirational presence of AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. Preparations for the event were completed nearly 20–25 days in advance. A private party plot was booked, police were informed ahead of time, and arrangements for sound systems, chairs, and other necessities were finalized.
However, at the last moment, the event was canceled due to alleged threats and pressure from BJP members on the party plot owner. Police were reportedly deployed to create an atmosphere of fear in the area, which MLA Italia condemned as inappropriate for a democratic setup.

“Every political party in India has a constitutional right to organize its programs,” said Gopal Italia. “AAP is a national party, and over 4.2 million people in Gujarat have voted for us. Applying such pressure on a democratically elected opposition party is unacceptable.”
He added that despite attempts by the BJP to cancel programs or intimidate party leaders, AAP would not be deterred. “Arvind Kejriwal’s program will now take place at Loderiyal village in Sanand at 4 PM. Whether the BJP tries to send our leaders to jail or cancel the event, we will not be intimidated,” Italia asserted.
This development comes amid growing political tension in Gujarat as the AAP continues to strengthen its presence and mobilize grassroots workers ahead of upcoming elections.
