AAP Gujarat accuses BJP of diverting ₹50 crore from tribal welfare grants to fund PM Modi’s event, calling it anti-tribal and unconstitutional.
Ahmedabad : The Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP Gujarat ) levelled strong allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the state government diverted more than ₹50 crore from funds allocated for tribal welfare and used them to organise a programme for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party described the move as another example of what it calls the BJP’s “anti-tribal mentality.”
In a sharp message posted on its official X handle, AAP Gujarat stated, “The BJP’s anti-tribal mentality has once again been exposed! More than ₹50 crore was spent from the grants meant for the rights of the tribal community for Prime Minister Modi’s program.”

AAP Calls It Exploitation of Tribal Rights
AAP alleged that large sums earmarked specifically for the welfare, education, livelihood, and protection of tribal communities were instead channelled into event arrangements, publicity, and administrative spending for the Prime Minister’s visit.
Party leaders argued that this is not just financial mismanagement but an “attack on the constitutional rights” of tribal communities.
They questioned why funds meant for some of the most marginalized groups were being diverted while issues like malnutrition, lack of schools, unemployment, and poor healthcare continue to haunt tribal regions in Gujarat.

Demand for Investigation and Accountability
AAP Gujarat demanded a high-level inquiry into the alleged diversion of funds and urged both state and central authorities to clarify the source of expenditure for the Prime Minister’s programme.
According to the party, tribal grants must be used strictly for their designated purposes, and officials authorising the misuse should face strict action.
Political Tension Intensifies
This accusation adds to the rising political tensions in Gujarat, where AAP has been actively highlighting issues affecting tribal communities—especially in districts like Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Tapi, and Dang.

The party stated that BJP governments across India often showcase tribal welfare in speeches but fail to deliver real change at the ground level. The alleged fund diversion, they said, is proof that “BJP prioritises event management over genuine welfare.”
BJP Yet to Respond
As of now, no formal response has been issued by BJP Gujarat. However, party leaders have in past instances dismissed similar allegations by the opposition as “politically motivated.”
AAP’s Tribal Outreach Strategy Strengthens
In recent months, AAP has intensified its outreach in tribal belts, holding nukkad sabhas, village visits, and public interactions to highlight gaps in development. The party says it will continue to expose what it calls misuse of public funds and denial of rights to tribal communities.
