AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava demands a CID probe into alleged misuse of tribal funds for PM Modi’s Dediyapada event, saying tribals are being denied their rights.
Ahmedabad : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Chaitar Vasava demanded a CID investigation into the expenditure incurred on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Dediyapada programme, alleging that the state government used crores meant for tribal welfare to fund the event.
The statement, posted on AAP Gujarat’s official X page, intensified the ongoing political storm surrounding the alleged diversion of funds from tribal development schemes.
“We don’t oppose Gaurav Diwas, but funds belong to tribals”
MLA Chaitar Vasava emphasised that AAP has no objection to the Prime Minister celebrating Gaurav Diwas, but strongly condemned the use of money that was designated for tribal communities.

He added that the government’s claims of tribal upliftment stand exposed when funds intended for education, housing, healthcare, and livelihood support of tribal citizens are allegedly diverted to organise political programmes.
Demand for CID Probe
Vasava demanded that a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inquiry be launched immediately to determine:
-
How much money was spent
-
From which departments the funds were drawn
-
Whether tribal grants or scheme allocations were misused
-
Who authorised the expenditure
He argued that only an independent probe can uncover the “actual scale of financial mismanagement.”
AAP Intensifies Attack on BJP
The allegation comes at a time when AAP Gujarat has repeatedly accused the BJP government of failing to protect tribal rights despite public promises of development.

The party pointed out that tribal regions like Dediyapada face long-standing issues such as:
-
Lack of quality schools
-
Inadequate health services
-
Low employment opportunities
-
Poor infrastructure
Yet, according to AAP, instead of addressing these issues, the government is focusing on “event politics” funded by tribal welfare grants.
BJP Likely to Respond
The BJP has not yet issued a statement on Vasava’s demand. Party leaders, in previous cases, have dismissed AAP’s allegations as “political theatrics.”
However, the issue is gaining attention in the tribal belt, where AAP has been expanding its organisational reach and positioning itself as a strong opponent to the ruling BJP.
Growing Discontent in Tribal Regions
Local groups and activists have also raised concerns about reduced transparency in tribal development expenditure. Vasava’s demand is expected to amplify pressure on the government to release detailed financial reports on the Dediyapada event.
