Yamuna Foam Returns: AAP Questions Government’s Cleanup Drive

by Desk

Foam over the Yamuna at Kalindi Kunj triggers a political battle as AAP blames the govt for failed cleanup, while BJP accuses AAP of years of negligence.

New Delhi: When Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar Kalindi Kunj and Aam Aadmi Party legislature party chief whip Sanjeev Jha arrived on the scene, they posted a video of the foam floating over the Yamuna waters on social media. Saurabh Bhardwaj, a Delhi state convener for the AAP, posted the video on ‘X’ and claimed that the Yamuna cleaning campaign by the Delhi government has now concluded, just as the Bihar elections had. Now, all that is visible in the Yamuna is fdam. “This footage of the foam-covered Yamuna on Kalindi Kunj has exposed the government’s cleanliness campaign,” he remarked.

MLA Sanjeev Jha, who had just arrived at Kalindi Kunj, stated that although the Yamuna appeared to be a really lovely sight from above, this white sheet was actually a layer of government incompetence. Despite the BJP’s six-month pledge to clean up the Yamuna, the situation is entirely different. The Yamuna was being cleaned up by spraying boats and chemicals to get rid of foam about 25 days ago, but everything has stopped. According to him, he had no plans to stop the Yamuna’s pollution. Even after the BJP government sprayed water at the AQI monitoring station, Sanjeev Jha claimed that the pollution level had risen above 500. Following the effective execution of Chhath Puja, AAP leaders became alarmed: senior journalist for BJP New Delhi. The cleanliness of the capital’s Yamuna river has sparked political tensions between the BJP and the AAP once more. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), according to the BJP, has been frightened by the successful Chhath Puja at Yamuna Ghats. “It is shocking that AAP leaders are blaming the new Delhi government for the dirt and foam in the Yamuna, while ignoring the fact that the previous AAP government’s negligence was responsible for turning the Yamuna into a drain,” said State BJP President Virendra Sachdeva. The AAP government, according to Sachdeva, has not given the Yamuna cleanup project any thought during the past ten years. No work was done on the large drains in East Delhi or Najafgarh by the Aam Aadmi Party government, nor had the required sewer treatment plants been established.

“The previous AAP government was unable to organize Chhath Puja at Yamuna Ghats or perform partial cleaning of the Yamuna,” the state BJP president said. According to him, the Rekha Gupta administration was able to effectively arrange Chhath Puja on the Yamuna Ghats and clean the Yamuna river in a matter of months. 37 STPs have already seen the start of construction by the Delhi government, Sachdeva said. The Yamuna will soon be clean and sacred for the people of Delhi thanks to the drain cleaning project, which is also proceeding quickly.
