Delhi govt to give Diwali gift to 40,000 Laadli Yojana girls; funds to be credited on Oct 1 under Seva Pakhwada marking PM Modi’s birthday.

The Delhi government will provide financial aid to around 40,000 recipients under the “Laadli Yojana” on October 1 as part of a special Diwali event. In the presence of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the transfer will be completed with a single click during an occasion at Talkatora Stadium.

In honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, this action is a part of the ongoing Seva Pakhwada (service fortnight). To find qualified recipients of the program, the Women and Child Development Department ran a district-by-district campaign earlier this year.

With the help of term deposits, the Laadli Yojana, which was introduced on January 1, 2008, seeks to empower Delhi-born girls. Families are compensated Rs 10,000 for home births and Rs 11,000 for hospital deliveries under the program. When the child is admitted to classes 1, 2, 6, 9, and 10, they receive an additional Rs 5,000 in financial aid.

Only Delhi-born girls whose parents earn less than Rs 1 lakh a year are eligible for the program. Assistance is only available to two daughters per family, and the girls must have lived in Delhi for at least three years and be enrolled in Delhi government, MCD, or NDMC-approved schools.

As the child advances in school, deposits are released gradually from SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. After the girl graduates from class 10 or turns 18, she can access the maturity amount, which includes interest, and use it for microbusiness startup, vocational training, or further education.
