Delhi AAP unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleges Haryana industrial waste contaminated Yamuna, raising ammonia to toxic levels.

Delhi AAP unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the water treatment plants (WTP) in the national capital failed to adequately treat contaminated water, as Haryana permitted industrial waste to infiltrate the city’s freshwater supply, resulting in ammonia levels rising to ‘poisonous’ concentrations.

Sharing a report that emphasizes the NGT’s request for the Haryana Government to clarify the situation regarding the freshwater discharge, Bharadwaj posted on X and stated, “This precisely reflects Arvind Kejriwal’s remarks concerning Yamuna water contamination.” Delhi’s water purification facilities were unable to adequately purify the water due to the influx of industrial waste from Haryana into Delhi’s freshwater sources. Industrial waste elevated ammonia concentrations in the water, rendering it toxic. Earlier, the BJP and the Lieutenant Governor dismissed it as baseless.

Today, it is recognized that sewage and industrial effluents from Haryana’s drain six pollutants into Delhi’s pure water. Lieutenant Governor and BJP are now required to provide an explanation, the post concluded.

Bharadwaj also shared an archival video in which he stated, “We had displayed live Google images of the site.” We deployed our teams to the location, and they provided photographs with GPS coordinates, conclusively demonstrating that the water entering the Yamuna in Delhi was not river water; rather, it was industrial effluent originating from Haryana.

Bharadwaj stated that two sewers, DD-8 and DD-2, transport industrial effluents from regions such as Sonepat and Panipat, and that the same contaminated water was reaching Delhi.
