New Delhi: The political heat in Delhi is rising as Atishi condemns BJP for allegedly transforming the Delhi Assembly into a hostile environment for opposition voices. In a strongly worded letter to the Speaker of the Assembly, Atishi condemns BJP for suspending four opposition MLAs and barring them from committee meetings, calling it a blatant misuse of power.
According to Atishi, the ruling party has created a culture where dissent is silenced and opposition MLAs are denied their democratic rights. She highlighted that the four MLAs—Sanjeev Jha, Jarnail Singh, Kuldeep Kumar, and Som Dutt—have been suspended for the entire session, actions she described as not acts of discipline but as authoritarian measures. Atishi condemns BJP for this “undemocratic behavior” that undermines the functioning of the Assembly.

Atishi Condemns BJP as AAP Protests Silencing of Opposition MLAs
The suspension has triggered protests from AAP, which has criticized the BJP for reducing the Delhi Assembly to a platform where only the ruling party’s voice is allowed. “The opposition has been repeatedly silenced. Atishi condemns BJP because such actions weaken the very foundation of representative democracy,” an AAP spokesperson said.

At the press briefing, Atishi condemns BJP for using its majority to enforce arbitrary decisions, stressing that the Assembly should uphold democratic principles rather than act as a personal fiefdom for one party. She called on the Speaker to revoke the suspensions and restore the rights of opposition members so that all MLAs can participate in debates and committee work without fear or obstruction.
As tensions continue, AAP leaders have vowed to continue their protests until their demands are met, asserting that the Delhi Assembly must function as a true legislative forum and not as a stage for political domination.
