AAP’s Saurabh Bhardwaj slams CM Rekha Gupta over doctored video targeting Atishi, calling out hypocrisy and demanding equal respect for women leaders.

New Delhi: In a sharp political statement, AAP Delhi leader Saurabh Bhardwaj accused Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of double standards over her recent complaints of being mocked as a woman. Bhardwaj highlighted that while CM Gupta sought sympathy in the Delhi Assembly, former Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi has been targeted with offensive hoardings across the city.

Speaking to the media, Bhardwaj said, “Two days ago in the Delhi Assembly, CM Rekha Gupta complained she was being mocked and sought sympathy as a woman. Yet for the past week, former CM Atishi, also a woman, has been targeted with offensive hoardings across Delhi. A forensic report has confirmed the video was doctored and the words were falsely added. I ask CM Rekha Gupta: Is Atishi not a woman? If standards apply to you, they must apply to her too. Otherwise, stop the drama and the woman card.”

Bhadrwaj’s statement comes amid a heated political controversy over a doctored video of Atishi, which falsely attributed offensive words to her. The forensic report has confirmed the manipulation, exposing the video as an attempt to malign the former CM’s image.

The AAP leader accused the ruling party of hypocrisy, questioning why similar standards were not applied to Atishi while granting CM Gupta protection and sympathy. “It is imperative that the dignity and respect for women in politics be applied equally, irrespective of party lines,” Bhardwaj added.

This incident has reignited the debate over political attacks using manipulated media and the responsibilities of authorities to curb misinformation. Bhardwaj emphasized that such tactics not only target individual leaders but also undermine public trust in the political system.

AAP leaders have demanded that authorities take strict action against those responsible for the doctored video and offensive hoardings, stressing that attempts to intimidate or malign women leaders will not be tolerated.
