VP Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan launches Drug Free Campus Campaign at Delhi University, urging students to pledge for a healthy, drug-free India.

Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, the vice president of India, launched the Drug Free Campus Campaign at the University of Delhi today, highlighting the necessity of consistent and coordinated efforts to safeguard young people from drug addiction and to realize the goal of a Viksit and Aatma-nirbhar Bharat.

The Vice-President emphasized that great nations need strong leadership, stating that universities are not just places for academic study but also places where leadership is developed, values are formed, and the future of the country is built. He noted that it sends a strong message to society at large when a prestigious university like the University of Delhi takes a strong stance against substance addiction.

Additionally, the Vice-President encouraged students from universities all across the nation to actively participate and accept the pledge for a drug-free campus by launching a special e-pledge platform (https://pledge.du.ac.in/home) and mobile application under the Nasha Mukt Parisar Abhiyaan. He urged Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister for Education, to make sure that all Central Higher Educational Institutions incorporate the Drug Free Campus Campaign.

In addition to pointing out that India is a young country, the vice president characterized substance misuse as a major social issue, a public health risk, and a danger to the demographic dividend of the nation. According to him, drug misuse has a negative impact on one’s physical and emotional well-being, scholastic achievement, family harmony, productivity, and national security, especially its connections to narco-terrorism.

India’s ancient traditions place a high value on self-discipline, mental equilibrium, and physical and mental purity, the vice president added, highlighting the importance of education and culture. He pointed out that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s initiatives to encourage yoga and meditation are indicative of this philosophy.
