Sergio Gor presents credentials to President Murmu as 27th US Ambassador to India, pledging stronger US-India strategic and economic ties.

New Delhi: Sergio Gor, United States Ambassador to India, submitted his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu during an official event at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday.

During the occasion, Ambassador Gor was sworn in as the 27th US Ambassador to India.

Ambassador Gor stated, “It is an honor to deliver my credentials to President Murmu and to serve in India at this moment of great promise and potential in the US-India partnership. I am looking forward to working closely with the Indian government and people to achieve our shared priorities in defense, commerce, technology, and key minerals, as well as to enhance our two great democracies’ partnership.

Ambassador Gor previously served as Assistant to the President and Director of Presidential Personnel at the White House.

On X, the Rashtrapati Bhavan stated: “President Droupadi Murmu received credentials from Mr Chandradath Singh, High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; Dr Robert Zischg, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria; and Mr Sergio Gor, Ambassador of the United States of America, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”

Gor’s credentials were presented just days after assuming office in New Delhi. On Monday, he took the oath of office as the new US Ambassador at the US Embassy in the national capital.

Gor, who has traveled with President Trump over the world, expressed his belief that their bond with Prime Minister Modi is genuine and that true friends can work together to settle disagreements. Not only do the United States and India share common interests, but they also have a high-level relationship. “True friends can disagree but always resolve their differences,” he added. “It is great to be here as the United States’ Ambassador.” I come to this magnificent country with deep respect and a clear mission: to elevate our two countries’ partnership to new heights. This is the intersection of the world’s oldest and largest democracies. During my last supper with him, President Trump discussed his last visit to India as well as his close friendship with India’s Prime Minister. I hope the President will come to see us soon, preferably within the next year or two. “President Trump has a habit of calling at 2 a.m., and given the time difference in New Delhi, it could work out pretty well,” he continued.

Gor emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership with India and stated that he plans to pursue an ambitious agenda.
