PFI Secret ‘Hit Lists’ with 977 Names Unearthed by NIA, Reveals Plot to Target Hindus and Officials
NIA Reveals PFI’s ‘Hit Lists’ with 977 Targets in Kerala, Including Judge and RSS Leaders
In a chilling revelation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) told a special court in Kochi, Kerala, that it has uncovered multiple “hit lists” maintained by the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI), listing nearly 977 individuals, including a former district judge. These lists, investigators say, were part of a broader terror conspiracy to target members of the Hindu community and other perceived enemies.
The explosive disclosures were made while opposing bail applications of Muhammad Bilal and Riyasudheen, both accused in the 2022 murder case of RSS leader Sreenivasan in Palakkad.
A Parallel Intelligence Operation: PFI’s Secret “Reporters Wing”
According to the NIA’s submissions, PFI was operating a clandestine “Reporters Wing” — a quasi-intelligence unit specifically tasked with collecting personal and private information about individuals, especially from the Hindu community.
This included:
- Full names and photographs
- Occupations and public positions
- Daily schedules and movement patterns
These dossiers were reportedly compiled at the district level, periodically updated, and passed on to the state leadership of the outfit to plan targeted violence.
977 Names Targeted for Elimination
The NIA stated that over 977 individuals were listed in these hit lists. Among the names were:
- A former District Judge
- Prominent Hindu community leaders
- Members of right-wing organizations
- Local political and social influencers
These hit lists, investigators argue, were not merely for surveillance, but served as kill lists, to be used “as and when required by the terrorist gang.”
Inside PFI’s Underground Network: Arms Training and Hit Squads
Further investigation revealed the PFI ran three covert operational wings:
- Reporters Wing – Intelligence and data collection
- Physical and Arms Training Wing (PE) – Combat and weapons training
- Service Wing (‘Hit Teams’) – Assassination squads
The Periyar Valley Campus, now attached by the NIA, was allegedly being used as an arms training facility where recruits were trained to carry out “surgical strikes” on specific targets.
This structure reflects high levels of planning, indoctrination, and coordination, often associated with internationally designated terrorist organisations.
A Chain of Revenge Killings: The Palakkad Murders
The NIA claims the murder of RSS leader Srinivasan on April 16, 2022, was part of a retaliatory killing orchestrated by the PFI, following the killing of SDPI activist Subair a day earlier.
Subair, an SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India) member, was hacked to death in Elappully, Palakkad while returning from a mosque at 1:30 AM. Investigators allege he was killed by suspected RSS workers, which then triggered the counterattack.
A day later, Srinivasan was murdered at his motorbike shop, in broad daylight. This, the NIA argues, was not an isolated incident, but part of a strategic terror campaign fueled by radical Islamist ideology.
NIA Tightens Net Around PFI: Opposition to Bail Pleas
The NIA has opposed bail for the accused, stating that:
- Both men were part of a pre-planned conspiracy.
- Their release could jeopardize national security.
- The terror ecosystem built by the PFI has deep roots, and investigations are still underway.
The central agency maintains that the murder of Srinivasan and the planning behind it reflect a deliberate escalation of communal violence aimed at destabilizing law and order.
