Guwahati | Assam — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that Air India will begin operating direct international flights from Guwahati to Dubai and Abu Dhabi starting August 4, marking a major boost to the region’s global connectivity.

The new services are expected to significantly strengthen Guwahati international connectivity, making the city an important aviation hub for Northeast India. The announcement was shared by the Chief Minister on social media platform X.

Boost to Guwahati international connectivity

With the introduction of these routes, Guwahati international connectivity will expand further, linking Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport with key destinations in the Middle East. The airport will now offer direct international links to four countries — the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore, and Bhutan.

Officials said the expansion of Guwahati international connectivity will enhance travel convenience for passengers from Northeast India, especially business travellers, students, tourists, and the large expatriate community in the Gulf region.
