Gujarat ATS Foils Al‑Qaida Operatives in Major Bust

Gujarat’s Anti‑Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested four individuals in Ahmedabad with suspected links to the terrorist network Al‑Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). The operation marks a significant blow to terror infrastructure in the region

Law enforcement agencies have responded swiftly. Following tip‑offs and intelligence inputs, the suspects were taken into custody on July 23. The ATS is now conducting an in‑depth investigation to trace their contacts and uncover planned activities

Expanding Probe to Expose Wider Network

Officials revealed that the arrested individuals had strong operational ties to AQIS. While their identities and specific roles have not been disclosed, the ATS is analyzing whether they were involved in recruitment, planning, or messaging activities.

This arrest comes amid growing concern that AQIS maintains sleeper cells across India. Authorities are coordinating with national agencies to map the broader network and assess any potential plots connected to these suspects.

Intelligence Links and Ongoing Security Efforts

Security agencies say the detainees were part of a module aimed at expanding AQIS influence in Gujarat and beyond. They are likely to have used encrypted communication channels to avoid detection.

Investigators are continuing to extract evidence from digital devices and communication logs. They are also working to determine if the arrested group planned specific targets or operations within the state

Regional Security Alert Heightened

This raid follows earlier actions by the ATS, including the apprehension of cyber‑terrorists and espionage suspects. The agency is maintaining heightened alert levels in urban centres and border regions.

Officials reaffirm authorities’ pledge to act on credible inputs and continue coordinated counter‑terror actions with central and state partners.
