Hyderabad, July 28:
A tragic incident occurred at the Uppal Stadium indoor court in Hyderabad yesterday when 25-year-old Gundla Rakesh suddenly collapsed during a friendly badminton match. Bystanders quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
An official statement from Telangana Today identified him as the son of a former deputy sarpanch from Khammam district. Doctors, while treating him, confirmed that a suspected heart attack caused his death, as there were no prior signs of serious illness.
The sudden collapse of a young and seemingly healthy person has raised concerns about undetected heart risks in active youth. Health experts emphasize that sudden cardiac arrest can happen without warning, even during moderate sports activity. This underscores the need for early screening and greater awareness of CPR techniques.
This incident follows a series of similar tragic events in Hyderabad, where several young individuals, aged 19 to 38, have collapsed during sports or celebrations in recent years, often due to undiagnosed heart conditions.
