Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has strongly criticized the growing trend of inflated box office numbers in the film industry, while praising the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Highlighting the Dhurandhar box office collection, Kohli said the film reflects the true earning potential of Indian cinema through genuine ticket sales.
Speaking in an Instagram video, Kohli took a dig at filmmakers who manipulate figures to create hype. “Even fake collections don’t reach ₹100 crore for the entire lifetime of a film,” he said, contrasting it with the Dhurandhar box office collection, which has reportedly crossed ₹100 crore in a single day—twice.

Kohli further noted that the film demonstrates the immense potential of the Indian box office when supported by strong storytelling. He urged filmmakers to focus on “desi” subjects rather than being influenced by Western ideas.
