No other regional or smaller political party managed to secure a single uncontested seat in this round. State officials confirmed that active polling across all remaining municipal wards will take place on September 9 and September 11.

Senior leaders noted that these Rajasthan urban elections highlight a major operational shift in state administration. Former Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore praised the current government for streamlining the entire electoral cycle.

Rathore stated that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s administration is completing civic and panchayat polls within roughly 40 days. In contrast, previous election cycles stretched across nearly 280 days of enforced Model Code of Conduct.

The state administration is holding elections for 309 urban local bodies in a single unified schedule. The Model Code of Conduct came into effect on August 19 and will conclude on September 17.

Administrative Comparison of Election Schedules and Timelines

Government Period Election Phases Model Code Duration Development Work Impact
Current BJP Government (2026) Unified Single-Window Schedule Around 40 Days Continuous development without multi-month halts
Previous Congress Government (2019-2021) 13 Staggered Phases Nearly 280 Days Prolonged administrative freeze across 18 months

Rathore emphasized that elections should strengthen democratic participation without halting local development projects. He described the administration’s policy framework as “less model code, more development”.

Additionally, panchayat elections across rural blocks will finish by November. This compressed schedule prevents repeated freezes on civil works and government hiring.

For instance, state authorities recently launched the recruitment process for 24,752 sanitation workers. Rathore pointed out that previous governments often announced recruitment drives without completing official appointments.
