New Delhi: Padmini Ekadashi 2026 is being observed across India on May 27 during the Shukla Paksha of the additional lunar month (Adhik Maas), also known as Malmas or Purushottam Maas. This sacred Ekadashi is also referred to as Kamala Ekadashi and Punyavardhini Ekadashi and is considered highly auspicious in Hindu tradition.
According to the Hindu calendar, this fast occurs once every three years during Adhik Maas and is believed to destroy sins and bring immense spiritual merit. On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi.
Padmini Ekadashi 2026 Tithi and Parana Time
The Ekadashi Tithi of Jyeshtha month begins on May 26 at 5:10 AM and ends on May 27 at 6:21 AM. The fast will be broken (Parana) on May 28 between 5:25 AM and 7:56 AM.

Auspicious Yog on Padmini Ekadashi
This year, Padmini Ekadashi is marked by two highly auspicious yogas—Sarvarth Siddhi Yog and Ravi Yog—considered beneficial for spiritual practices and worship.
Puja Vidhi (Rituals)
Devotees are advised to wake up early during Brahma Muhurat and take a ritual bath. The worship place should be cleaned before beginning prayers. An idol or image of Lord Vishnu, Bal Gopal, Shaligram, and Shri Yantra is placed on a wooden platform.
These are then bathed with Panchamrit, followed by offerings of yellow clothes, flowers, Tulsi leaves, and garlands. A ghee lamp and incense are lit, and devotees offer fruits, sweets, and sacred Tulsi leaves.
Chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama and the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” is considered highly beneficial. Donations and charity are also encouraged on this day.

In the evening, lighting a lamp near the Tulsi plant and performing circumambulation is considered auspicious. Devotees are advised not to pluck Tulsi leaves on Ekadashi.
Padmini Ekadashi 2026 Mythological Significance
According to ancient legend, King Kritavirya of the Haihaya dynasty ruled Mahishmati but had no heir despite repeated efforts. Along with his devoted wife Padmini, he performed intense penance in the Gandhamadan mountain forest.
Even after thousands of years of penance, they were advised by Sage Anusuya to observe Padmini Ekadashi 2026 during the sacred Adhik Maas. Following this, Queen Padmini observed a strict fast and night vigil dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Pleased with her devotion, Lord Vishnu blessed the queen with a son named Kartavirya, who became a powerful and legendary ruler.
Religious Belief
It is believed that those who observe Padmini Ekadashi 2026 fast with devotion and read or listen to its story attain great spiritual merit and ultimately reach Vaikuntha, the abode of Lord Vishnu.
