New Delhi: Indian smartphone brand Lava has officially confirmed that the new Lava Shark 2 5G will launch in India by the end of May 2026. The upcoming smartphone is aimed at users looking for an affordable 5G experience without compromising on essential features like display quality, battery life, and durability.
The Lava Shark 2 5G will succeed last year’s Shark 2 4G model and is expected to arrive in the highly competitive sub-Rs 15,000 price segment. With this launch, Lava is preparing to challenge popular budget 5G smartphones from brands such as Redmi, Realme, Poco, and Samsung.
Large 120Hz Display for Smooth Experience
One of the biggest highlights of the Lava Shark 2 5G is its 6.75-inch display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate. Lava says the higher refresh rate will provide smoother scrolling, better gaming performance, and an improved multitasking experience compared to standard displays in this price range.
The company appears to be focusing heavily on delivering a premium display experience for budget-conscious buyers who want fluid visuals while gaming, watching videos, or browsing social media.
Massive Battery Backup Promised
Battery performance is another major selling point of the Lava Shark 2 5G. According to Lava, the smartphone can deliver up to 815 minutes of YouTube playback and more than 12 hours of screen-on time even while running at a 120Hz refresh rate.
If the claims hold true in real-world usage, the phone could easily become one of the strongest battery performers in the affordable 5G category.
IP64 Durability and Strong Performance
Lava has also confirmed that the smartphone will feature an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes. This makes the device more durable than many other entry-level smartphones currently available in the market.
In terms of performance, the company has not yet revealed the exact processor details. However, Lava teased that the chipset inside the Lava Shark 2 5G has scored over 500,000 points on the AnTuTu v11 benchmark, suggesting capable performance for everyday tasks, social media, streaming, and light gaming.

Lava is expected to reveal the complete specifications, camera setup, pricing, and availability details during the official launch event later this month.
For comparison, the previous Lava Shark 2 4G featured a 6.75-inch HD+ 120Hz display, Unisoc T7250 chipset, 5,000mAh battery, 50MP rear camera, and 18W fast charging at a starting price of ₹6,999.
With rising demand for affordable 5G smartphones in India, the Lava Shark 2 5G could become an attractive option for users upgrading from older 4G devices or feature phones while staying within budget.
